Wedding Planning by Alicia Keats | Wedding Photography by Hera Photography.
From the second I spoke to Charing + Heston I wanted to work with them. We planned their wedding long distance as they were based in New York during the course of the wedding planning, so we had a lot of Skype dates and phone calls. Charing + Heston were inspired by a Pride and Prejudice editoritorial I did and asked me to incorporate the styled shoot into the design of their wedding which was a lot of fun!
Charing + Heston began their day with a tea ceremony at the Bride’s family home in Richmond. After a few family photos were taken by Hera Studios and Charing changed into a white go wn, Pacific Harmony Limos picked up the couple, the wedding party, and the family and drove them to St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church in Vancouver for the marriage ceremony.
St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church was decorated with floral aisle markers and two large altar arrangements by The Flower Factory that combined soft pink hydrangea, garden roses, peach-toned ranunculus, and eucalyptus. Charing + Heston wanted to keep the décor minimal to draw attention to the importance of the marriage ceremony itself and its place in their faith. After the ceremony concluded with a couple hymns, guests made their way to the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel where the cocktail hour would begin.
The main reception was held in the main ballroom and used a soft pastel colour palette with touches of silver to conjure the romance of an English party from the 1800’s. The head table was set with low flower arrangements, light blue tapered candles, and an opulent white drapery as a backdrop. Guest tables were dressed in stunning light blue satin tablecloths, opulent centrepieces in stone vases, silver tea light holders, silver filigree charger plates, and cream napkins with a single stem of lavender tied neatly with a ribbon that was held together by a custom wax seal. The round menu fit perfectly into each charger plate and used calligraphy reminiscent of a handwritten love letter. Finishing off the look and helping the décor to feel fresh and modern, we used clear infinity chairs with silver cushions. In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, Charing + Heston opted for a stunning light blue macaron tower provided by the Pacific Rim Hotel.
After a five-course dinner that was interspersed with speeches, Charing + Heston made their way onto the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple to ‘Lucky’ by Jason Mraz. After the first dance and parents dance finished, the couple was surprised by their guests with a flash mob and the party began!
Enjoy!
