Planning Eiza and Lucas’s black & white wedding was a joy from start to finish. From the get go, they were model planning partners. We were on the same page when it came to getting things done, and that meant they were really comfortable adhering to my deadlines and making decisions quickly and efficiently. This not only made the planning process easy and enjoyable, but being a head in the planning process allows for more time closer to the wedding to just enjoy the anticipation!

One of the concerns that did loom over our planning process was whether guests would be able to dance or not, given the COVID-19 restrictions at the time. That said, we decided to go full steam ahead in the faith that it would all work out — and it did!

Eiza and Lucas were able to celebrate their wedding in style at the Vancouver Convention Centre and they danced the night away with their family and friends.

For the wedding design, Eiza had a vision for a luxurious black & white wedding, filled with baby’s breath and white roses in all of the floral arrangements.

The design was brought to life by the amazing teams at Koncept Events, Bespoke Decor, and Flowerz. They helped us consistently showcase the theme across the different spaces on the third level of the convention centre, and it was magical to see.

As Eiza’s family is from the Philippines, the ceremony incorporated Pilipino elements.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to a cocktail reception. In this space, we set up a seating chart / champagne wall, where guests could pick up their glass of champagne and see where they would be seated for dinner. It was such a fun addition to cocktail hour and the guests loved it.

Cocktail hour also included a musical interlude from SideOne Band, who spent an hour and a half playing a great set while friends and family had drinks, canapes and visited The Collective You.

After family and wedding party photos, Lucas and Eiza went for a couple’s portrait session with Kat from Art + The Aerialist. The great thing about the Vancouver Convention Centre is that it has a lot of great secret outdoor spaces for photos. Whether it’s on the grassy roof or against a railing with the city skyline as a backdrop, there’s a lot of great variety.

For dinner, guests were treated to a wonderful customized meal. The culinary team at the convention centre was fantastic to work with, and they even went the extra mile to partner with Hy’s so that they could bake some of their infamous cheesy bread on site — a favourite of the couple’s. I hadn’t had it before and Eiza and Lucas treated me and my husband to dinner and I learned first hand that Hy’s cheesy bread is to die for!

Throughout the dinner, guests also heard from the couple’s parents, best friends, and from the bride and groom themselves.

Once dinner was done, it was time for the band to take to the stage again to kick off the dancing. Everyone had a fantastic time to the music, including a late night DJ, and were also treated to late-night snacks for when their feet got tired.

As I said at the start of this post, this wedding was a joy from start to finish. I had so much fun planning the wedding with Eiza and Lucas, and I was so sad when it was over.
