Wedding Planning by Alicia Keats | Wedding Photography by Sakura Photography
What stood out for me more than anything with Helen and Mike was how compatible they were – they were super good friends, and very team orientated. They had a wonderful sense of humour with each other, and similar interests. In short, they were a perfect match! I was so pleased to plan their wedding for them and be a part of their special day.
Helen and Mike really wanted their guests to have a good time, and to have a relaxing atmosphere. They also wanted their celebration to reflect their love of craft beer. In fact, they had already warmed up for their wedding with a beer crawl for the guys, and a spa day for the girls earlier that week. At the wedding, they had beer kegs on ice supplied by Parallel 49, which were a huge hit.
The couple also wanted good music and good food. After the ceremony the couple popped open bottles of champagne and the guests enjoyed bubbles and music by The JD’s Swinging Trio from Musical Occasions. Besides the kegs of craft beer, cocktail hour also had oysters shucked by roaming suckers by the very best, Curious Oyster.
Two other details I just loved from this wedding, I loved the soft lavender colored flowers provided by Flower Factory and the custom floral garland they hung in the tree for the ceremony. And I am obsessed with their wedding cake, designed by Cake by Nicole.
The couple were very focused on their guest experience. As an example, they made a beautiful box for each of their guests as a thank you gift, as many guests were from out of town. The boxes contained reflections of Vancouver, such as sprigs of lavender, candles and treats.
I loved planning the wedding with Helen and Mike – each meeting felt like a meeting with my best friends and the meeting was always filled with tons of laughter!
We wish them a lifetime of happiness together, and were so happy to have the privilege of planning their wedding for them.
With love,
Alicia xoxo
