Reflecting the feeling of springtime, Melanie + Andrew’s wedding was full of elegant romance and soft pastels. Taking place at the Capilano Golf and Country Club, the wedding truly emulated the feeling of Spring on the coast, with pink and white blooms, grey Bridesmaid’s dresses, and even a quick afternoon rain shower that made for some dramatic yet cozy ‘under-the-umbrella’ photos!
Before the ceremony, Melanie, Andrew, and the Wedding Party, got ready at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver. During the time everyone got ready for the wedding, the couple gave each member of their wedding party a small gift, such as delicate silver bracelets with an infinity symbol for the Bridesmaids. In addition to the gifts to their wedding party, the couple also exchanged gifts with handwritten notes that brought happy tears to their eyes (and to mine!).
The ceremony was held inside at the Capilano Golf and Country Club in the Guinness Room. A white aisle runner led to the altar that was set at a large bay window and decorated with two full floral arrangements of pink and cream roses set upon clear vases and white plinths by Niche Event Stylists. Instead of a more traditional aisle marker, the couple chose to have floral garlands set on each of the white wooden chairs that lined the aisle. As guests entered, a string quartet from Musical Occasions played.
After the cocktail hour, guests were welcomed into the Stanley Thompson Room where they would take their seats for the dinner. Tables were dressed in gorgeous soft grey satin linen and each had a dramatic centrepiece of roses and hydrangea set on clear glass vase. Each place setting was complete with a clear glass charger plate with gold beading around the edge, a white napkin with a menu and a single pale pink garden rose tucked into it, silverware, and glassware. To add a little more elegance and sparkle, we chose gold chivari chairs, gold tealight candle holders, and added decadent filigree touches to the table numbers and menu cards. The head table was rectangular and faced the guest tables. It had a backdrop of pink and white chiffon drapery, gorgeous ‘loaf’ flower arrangements, and clear glass vases with floating candles. Set next to the head table was a small table with an incredible three-tier cake by A. Elizabeth Cakes complete with white peonies, pink roses, pearl-like detailing, and an embellished gold cake stand.
After enjoying a three-course meal that was interspersed with speeches from the family and wedding party, Andrew was surprised with a custom Lambeau Stadium Cake made by A. Elizabeth Cakes as he was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. After this, the couple cut the tiered wedding cake to Jack Johnson’s song, ‘Better Together,’ and the dessert station was opened. DJ Aimee Hawker brought guests onto the dance floor and guests enjoyed themselves late into the evening leaving with custom cookies from Short and Sweet Bakery.
Enjoy,
Aurora
