Jodi and Marc’s timeless and elegant wedding at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club was planned and designed by the wonderful Jamie-Lee Clooten. What follows is her account of this wedding.

When Jodi connected with me to start planning for her wedding in the summer of 2022, we clicked immediately. Jodi is passionate, kind, and stylish — all traits that I gravitate towards — and she was looking for a collaborative relationship with a planner that could take the reins while she dealt with her busy work schedule and other competing priorities. As she told me she wanted an outdoor wedding filled with romantic and elegant elements that made a statement, I couldn’t wait to get started.

By the time she engaged us, Jodi had already done some of the venue searching, and was gravitating towards the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club. She and Marc were members at the club so they knew that the food and wine was fantastic there, and they also loved the potential for the outdoor space as a ceremony location. However, the indoor reception space needed some love, and we would need to do a bit of a transformation for it to become the elegant and stylish room that she dreamed of for her wedding.

Knowing that we would have to incorporate quite a few decorative elements to make the reception space everything Jodi wanted, I recommended working with the team at Koncept Events. With the help of Evan and his team, we completely redesigned the space, introducing florals and greenery that would hang from the skylight, a monogrammed dance floor, rich drapery, and many (many) candles to produce a romantic atmosphere.

The room was filled with soft neutrals and pops of blush and gold. This elegant wedding palette became a backdrop for other beautiful elements including florals from Celsia Florist, which had captured Jodi’s attention at a friend’s wedding a few months prior, and a fantastic three-tiered cake from Allie at Rain Bake Shop.

As Jodi and Marc had expected, the scenic outdoor space of the club was ideal for the ceremony. Jodi walked down the aisle to the tune of four bagpipes with Musical Occasions in a nod to her Scottish heritage. She looked absolutely stunning in her gown, with beautiful hair and make-up by AX Art Atelier.

The ceremony was followed by an outdoor cocktail hour, where guests enjoyed delicious finger food and drinks under a canopy of trees and charming string lights. As a fun statement piece, we also included letter balloons in the cocktail space to add a splash of fun.

Jodi and her daughter, Caia, were really intentional about incorporating thoughtful elements into the wedding planning, and that included the party favours. Every guest got a monogrammed cookie as well as clear crystals. The latter was a nod to Marc’s profession as a geologist.

Some of my favourite moments of the night were the speeches. Not only did Jodi’s dad deliver an impressive speech that welcomed Marc to the family, Marc himself also delivered a beautiful speech where he shared how he asked Caia for her mother’s hand in marriage. Both speeches were a wonderful testament to the unity within this newformed family.

Amanda Coldicutt was the photographer for the day, and she was chosen for her romantic stylings and attention to detail. The photographs from the day matched the atmosphere of the event and were just sublime.

Other vendors that helped make this wonderful event happen include Absolute Styling Limousine, who offered a deluxe service for getting Jodi and Marc to and from the venue, and the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, where the couple got ready. Plus, The Collective You was also there to capture some stunning portraits.
