Note from Alicia Keats: It is hard to believe how much has changed since myself and our team retreat in Whistler celebrating our 2019 wedding season and looking forward to our 2020 wedding season and what would be our 10th wedding season together. A lot has changed  for us due to COVID-19. Angie wrote this post about our retreat in early March and it was scheduled to be posted just as the pandemic hit. Despite all that has transpired since March, I still want to share it with you. We had such an incredible time. I loved being able to spoil my team, reflect on what we had accomplished and learned and talk about goals for the future. While our 2020 retreat may have to wait until 2021, I am looking forward to nevertheless. I am so grateful to my team and to have been able to spend this time with them together. -Alicia Keats

Over the month of September 2019, Alicia was busy preparing a retreat for our team in secret. The only hint that we had was the date and the knowledge that we would need a car to get to the location.  Then – a couple of weeks before the event – an invite with a line of evergreen trees at the bottom greeted us in our mailboxes. We were headed to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for a weekend team retreat!

When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by Tracy McIvor, the Regional Sales Manager, and our bags were delivered to our rooms. As we entered our rooms, we were met with a welcome package from Alicia and a gift from the staff at the Fairmont Chateau. It was clear to us that we were about to get spoiled!

After settling in, we made our way to our ‘head quarters’ that would be the Mountain View Suite overlooking Blackcomb Mountain. This space is one that many of our bride’s use to get ready in before walking down the aisle to say ‘I do’ and it was such an amazing space for us to reflect on our past wedding season, to create goals for next year, and to discuss our bigger picture projects. Between these sessions we had fun attending site visits at local venues, visiting the spa, and most of all enjoyed an abundance of tasty treats.

After a busy year, it was so nice to have the time to connect and reflect as a team. This ‘workation’ reminded us of how grateful we are to be to work in this industry and be connected to so many amazing and inspiring people.

Thank-you to Alicia and the Fairmont Chateau for your generosity!

Angie 🙂
