Maggie and Brian’s Grouse Mountain wedding was a beautiful testament to their union. Held in June of 2022, they were one of the countless couples who had to postpone their big day as a result of COVID-19 regulations. And while it was tough to let go of their original date — and ultimately change their vision for their wedding day — the day turned out to be a magical celebration of the next chapter of their partnership.

As the couple had chosen to get legally married prior, the purpose of this event was primarily to celebrate their union with friends and family. Plus, Maggie and Brian were also getting ready to welcome a new addition to the family — their firstborn — so they were also able to acknowledge and celebrate that milestone.

June in Vancouver is notoriously hit or miss with the weather. In 2022, the start of June was cool, and grey, and this day was no exception. That didn’t stop everyone from having an absolutely lovely time.

While our team was bringing up the decor from Bespoke Decor and flowers from The Flower Factory in the gondola, the bride and bridesmaids got ready in North Vancouver with the help of AJ from The Glamoury.

From there, Maggie and her bridesmaids were driven to Cleveland Dam for the first look with Brian. Surrounded by lush greenery and blue-tinted mountains, the photographs were phenomenal. Plus, since the wedding party was clad in dark blues and navies, they complemented the backdrop perfectly.

In addition to the navy and blue wedding party, Maggie and Brian opted for a colour scheme filled with deep tones, including maroon and burnt orange. These colours came through in all of the florals and table settings.

Because of the rain on the day, the ceremony was held in the reception space. This made for an lovely, intimate vow renewal where the couple felt held by their friends and family.

For cocktail hour, guests were treated to drinks and canapes made from local produce, with Martin from Soundstripe playing music in the background.

This was followed by an invitation to dinner. Once guests had taken their seats, the MC introduced Maggie and Brian to an acoustic rendition of First Date, by Taylor Acorn — a lovely way to start the reception.

Food was an important feature at this wedding. In between speeches from the wedding party and parents, guests were treated to a delicious heirloom tomato and bocconcini salad and a choice of chickpeas, salmon, or short rib. Desert was a delightful selection of doughnuts and an ice cream station.

The party then started in earnest. The couple danced the night away with their guests, who also had access to a photobooth for the evening. Plus, there was a late-night treat of sliders and fries, that fuelled everyone until they had to go back down the mountain.

Maggie and Brian were such a fun couple to work with. They were a great reminder of how things can change as you plan things, but as long as you hold the important things close, then everything else will go well.
