Wedding Planning by Alicia Keats |Wedding Photography by Butter Studios
There are many things I love about planning weddings and one of them is getting to know my couples. I loved every second of working with Stephanie and Corey; sometimes it was over tea, other times it was over insanely yummy home cooked meals by Stephanie. Thank goodness I still get to see them from time to time or I would devastated! Stephanie and Corey had two very distinct styles that needed to be incorporated into the wedding, but my favorite part of their wedding day was the two surprises they planned with me for one another without the other person knowing. Both surprises went off flawlessly!
Surprise number one: Corey knew that Stephanie’s all time favorite movie was Love Actually and he wanted to re-create the wedding ceremony surprise scene for her. I arranged with Musical Occasions for a singer to disguise herself as a guest and sit in the the front row and wait until they were pronounced Husband and Wife. As soon as Karen Ell said the magic words, our singer stood up and began to sing, All You Need Is Love. The look on Stephanie’s face was something I will never forget, pure joy. She bust into tears and I don’t think there was a dye eye as they made their way back down the aisle. It was a perfect moment.
Surprise number two: Stephanie asked me to arrange a cotton candy stand for the reception. She knew that Corey loved cotton candy and that he would be so happy if it was included into the wedding. Sure enough, after dinner was over, I took them for a walk into the foyer and there it was, a mini cotton candy stand with all of the cotton candy Corey could ever dream of eating. They even let him try making it himself.
These were just some of the ways Stephanie and Corey ensured their wedding was as personal and memorable as possible. Other highlights included: two tea ceremonies, lots of door games, a stunning ceremony at Stanley Park Pavilion, the magnificent purple and green florals by the Flower Factory, the edgy purple and silver decor by Debut Event Design including an outdoor lounge and floor to ceiling draping, a photo-booth station, dhol drummers, a fantastic DJ, dessert stations, four dress changes, an after party…the list goes on! You can read all about their wedding in the current issue of the 2014 Real Wedding Complete Wedding Directory on newsstands now.
Love Alicia, xoxo
