Stanley and Glaiza are the definition of true love and commitment—and their Sutton Place wedding was a true reflection of them. I suspect if you look up true love in the dictionary, there just might be a photo of these two holding hands and smiling. It was a joy to plan their wedding and be a witness to how deep their love and care is for one another.
Glaiza and Stanley’s wedding took place at The Sutton Place in Vancouver. They wanted a romantic and enchanting wedding with a pallet of white, gold and hints of green. Above all else, they wanted their guests to leave the wedding truly experiencing how much they loved each other and I think we did it!
The stairway leading up to the ballroom was lined with floating candles, clear vases full of white hydrangea, and sprinkled white rose petals. Once guests made their way up the stairs, they walked through a draped entry way with an elegant gold filigree frame that welcomed them to the wedding of Glaiza and Stanley.
The ceremony was set with gold napoleon chairs with white cushions and a white aisle was lined with flower arrangements of white roses, orchids, and hydrangea set on glass vases on clear plexiglass pillars. Set on the ground along the aisle, we set tall vases with floating candles in between short floral arrangements. The room was draped romantically with white sheer fabric and white uplights helping to create a bright whimsical atmosphere. Instead of a traditional arch, we created a kind of floating floral canopy of white roses, hydrangea, and cascading orchids.
Once guests were seated in the ballroom, the processional began which even included an appearance by the couple beloved dog in a ‘tux.’ Family played an important role in Stanley and Glaiza’s wedding and included small but powerful gestures such as having both parents walk them down the aisle and lighting a unity candle.
After the ceremony was completed, guests moved into the foyer and enjoyed passed canapes and cocktails as the ballroom was transformed for the main reception.
The ballroom was set with two long tables perpendicular to the head table at the front of the room. Tall glass candelabras were set along the tables interspersed with white pillar candles on clear stands amongst an elaborate floral garland of white roses and hydrangeas. Each seat had a gold charger plate with a guest favour wrapped in a white box and tied with a gold ribbon.
The head table was framed with floral arrangements set on tall plexiglass pillars that were originally part of the arch. A lush floral garland was set in the centre of the table where Glaiza and Stanley would be seated. In the middle of the dancefloor, the four-tier white cake was set on a round table with shimmery white linen.
Dinner was a custom 3-course plated menu that featured a duet of Lemon-Thyme Braised Short Rib and Crispy Sablefish. Following dinner and a few speeches, the couple cut the cake to ‘Wonderful Tonight’ by Eric Clapton and after the couple gave their speech, Glaiza and Stanley enjoyed their first dance together as a married couple followed by the bouquet toss signalling the start of the party.
I hope you enjoy!
Love, Alicia xo
