Wedding Planning by Aurora Krenus | Wedding Photography by Shari & Mike

The moment I met Tedi and Ben, not only did I really want them to hire me, I wanted to be friends with them. They were so warm, smart and funny. They had a laid-back energy but still knew what they wanted. They also laughed at my jokes, so it was pretty much perfect 😉 One of the things that stuck out about Tedi and Ben was that they valued me and my service right away. Sometimes it takes the couple until after the wedding to fully understand the scope of what a wedding planner does (understandably), but they were always saying to me “How would we do this without you! What do couples do without a planner?!”

We had the luxury of time when planning this wedding – more than a year out. So we explored a few avenues of what their wedding could be like, before deciding on doing the wedding at Van Dusen Gardens. They wanted their friends and family to be taken care of and have a great time, but keep things simple and laid-back. Being in nature was important as well; the more outdoors the better. They also wanted simple but thoughtful details.

One of the moments that stood out most to me about their day was when the guests gathered in a circle in the open field, the sun was setting and all the guests had sparklers lit as Ben and Tedi came together for their first dance.

We also brought in Lee’s Donuts (a favourite of the couple’s, from Granville Island) to add to the dessert buffet that Railtown supplied. They were both a big hit! Also, Tedi and I put together a flash tattoo station for the guests to put on during the dancing portion of the evening. By the end of the night, most of the ladies had a flash tattoo on. It was a fun, interactive part of the night and was a fantastic memory for the guests in the days after the wedding as well.

Flowers were by FlowerBox, decor by Cahoots Creative, hair and make up by Denise Elliott, and the video at the end of the post is by Henry Zhang.

Enjoy!

With love,

Aurora xoxo
