Choosing a place to elope in Vancouver can be tough—there are just so many great options! Our city’s unique combination of beautiful outdoor spaces and landmark buildings means that there’s a location to match every style.
Over the last year, we’ve seen many of our couples choose to elope and keep their wedding small instead of postponing to a later date. And as a result, many locations in the city that haven’t been available for weddings before are now opening their doors as creative solutions for couples looking for that special somewhere.
In this post, we’ve collected some of our favourite spots (old and new) from around the city that are ideal for creating a small, intimate vibe for your special day.
Elope in Vancouver in these indoor spaces
Have you ever dreamed of having your Belle moment, walking down the staircase to dance the night away in an empty ballroom? Well, now you can. The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, the landmark building of the city, is currently offering their grand staircase for intimate ceremonies. Just imagine it: stepping into the next stage of your lives together under a stunning crystal chandelier. Each sparkle representing all of the memories you’ve made so far—and all the ones that lie ahead.
The Georgian Room at the Vancouver Club is truly one of my favourite spaces in the city. So much so, that it’s where my partner and I had our wedding reception. The vast amounts of light that fill the space and the stately fireplace are just some of the features that make it amazing. The best part? You can make it completely your own by decorating the mantle with your favourite greenery and florals.
Our other indoor favourites include:
- Brix & Mortar (have you seen their courtyard?!)
- The Chairman’s Suite at the Pacific Rim. Don’t forget to have your dinner catered!
- The York Room at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia
- A private suite at the Parq Hotel
- The Permanent
- Loden Hotel garden terrace
Taking your elopement outdoors
We can’t think of a better outdoor setting for an elopement than the UBC Botanical Gardens. On a spring day, this space—an iconic one for Vancouver weddings—lights up with sunshine, life, and colour. It’s the perfect complement to even the smallest of ceremonies and receptions, and trust me, the photos will be stellar.
The great thing about living in Vancouver is that we have our pick of beautiful beaches that are kissed by sunset at the end of every day. Well, except for the rainy ones. What better setting is there than that for the couple that loves to keep things small and casual? I certainly can’t think of any.
But that’s not all. We can think of so many other magnificent outdoor elopement options that are just waiting for couples to use them:
- Pacific Spirit Park—which is where I would have had my ceremony had it not rained!
- Queen Elizabeth Park, with its epic views of the city, or the Bloedel Conservatory at its peak.
- The Pier in North Vancouver
- Capilano Suspension Bridge. As long as you’re not afraid of heights, that is.
- And the beautiful backdrop of Lighthouse Park.
It doesn’t have to be one or the other
With Hycroft Manor, part of the University Women’s Club of Vancouver, you get the perfect way to celebrate your day both indoors and outdoors. Framed by magnificent corinthian columns, couples can say their “I dos” with thoughts of ancient Greece and surrounded by beautiful, lush greenery. Then, they can bring their intimate wedding party into the historic space to celebrate.
At the Stanley Park Pavilion, you can blend the cool, secluded feeling of being in the middle of the forest with the utterly delightful atmosphere found in the Pavilion’s Tea Room. The foliage gives you the perfect backdrop for your vows; and the wood burning fireplace indoors offers the perfect cozy space for you to toast the commitment you’ve made to each other.
Other indoor-outdoor spots to consider for your elopement and mini reception in Vancouver:
- L’Abattoir—go from stylish indoor vibes to a unique Gastown setting .
- Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Gardens
- The Vancouver Art Gallery’s rotunda, because you deserve a wedding at the heart of the city.
